Can you really make money from blogging? Check out my blog report to find out., Everyone!

Welcome to my monthly blog progress report. May is my fourth month of blogging and I am excited to share my accomplishment this month. Although they are small, I am still proud of them.

Can you really make money from blogging? Check out my blog report to find out.I just have a few progress this month, partly because I got sick and had to have surgery. But even though it is a little progress, it is still progress.

But before we go on, let me tell you a little bit about me and why I am sharing my blog’s progress.

Please note that this post may contain affiliate links.

My name is Charity. I started at the end of January 2017. Originally, my blog’s goal is to share my journey through infertility with hopes to inspire other hopeful moms struggling with infertility. Then after doing research, I found that I can also actually make money from it. So I decided to monetize while documenting the progress.

It has only been a few months, but it felt like years, so many trials and errors but definitely a learning curve.

Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme.

It does take time and requires a lot of patience. A lot of bloggers who has been blogging for a while are reaping the benefits of their hard work. Hopefully, someday, I will get there too.

If you haven’t started your blog yet, check out my post on Step by Step Guide to Start a Blog. I am using Bluehost, and I am very happy with them. You can start with just $3.95/month.

Why do I post my monthly progress Report?

I decided to post my monthly status report for the following reasons.

I wanted to put my goals into writing. Studies show that goals which are written down are most likely to be accomplished. I found that if I write down a “to do list,” I’m more inclined and motivated to make it happen.

Track Progress

By putting down how my blog did for the month gives me an idea of what worked and what didn’t work. I will be able to pinpoint what I needed to work on.

Transparency and Full Disclosure

One of the goals of wishfulmom is to help others start and grow their online biz. So by showing them how the blog is doing, I can create transparency and trust.

Inspire someone

I started reporting my blog’s progress because I was inspired by other blogger’s income reports. By doing this, I hope to inspire someone as well.

Bragging is never my INTENTION and will never be. Purely inspirational and motivational.

Monthly Blog Progress Report

I use Google Analytics to track my progress. I also have Jetpack in my WordPress, but Google Analytics is the most common place where companies will check you out.

Social Media Numbers

I have signed up with six social media platforms, but honestly, I haven’t been very active in all of them. I am trying to focus on one at a time.

I did not include Instagram, Google+ or Stumble Upon because I wasn’t really using them this month.

Blog Income

I haven’t actually made much this month, but for transparency’s sake, I will still show you.

Ads $0.29

Affiliates $103.70

Since I like to diversify my income, I have included some earnings I get from other sites.

Swagbucks $12.38

Inbox Dollars $2.02

Ebates  $0.12

Yaarlo $0.89

Ibotta $0.50

Total Income $119.78

Please note that I post income as I earn them. The numbers motivate me, and I can check what’s working and what’s not.

Woohoo! This is the first time I was able to make a hundred! I feel so proud right now. It might not be big for you but it is a big milestone for me. This motivates me more to stick with my blog.

Blog Expenses

In every business, you always need to make an investment. Being new to blogging, I needed to learn so I invested in some tools, e-courses, and e-books. This month, I invested in an awesome bundle which will keep me busy for a long time.

Stock Photo $30

Boardbooster $10

Buffer $10

Theme $10

Facebook Ad $5

Making Sense of Cents $169

Total Expenses $234

Now it’s time to check how I did this month.

Goals This Month

Email Subscribers 50 W
Pinterest Followers 3,000 X
Twitter Followers 6,000 X
Facebook Page Followers 1,000 W
Income  $150 X
Expenses <$100 X

Yay! I did better this month by meeting some of my goals. However, I still need to work more on increasing my traffic and decreasing my expenses.

I have been waiting for a discount for Michelle’s Making Sense of Cents e-course and when it finally came, I got excited and bought the course. I had no regrets though and I am very happy I did because it actually increased my affiliate income this month.

Overall, I think I did well this month but of course always aim higher. Let’s do better next month.

Goals for Next Month

Unique Visitors   5,000

Please note that I have a full-time job and only doing blogging on my free time, which is limited. It has been very busy this month with my full-time job so I hardly had time to write more posts.

However, I started to look for guest post contributors to add content to blog to make up for the times I cannot write a post.

There you have it! I hope your numbers are better than mine.

Leave a link to your monthly income report below, and I will check it out. Let’s inspire and learn from each other.
